Project Medicine Drop

In an effort to stop the abuse and diversion of prescription drugs, the Franklin Borough Police Department has installed a Prescription Medicine Drop Box in the lobby of police headquarters. Members of the public may deposit their unused or expired household pharmaceutical waste into the box, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. This opportunity prevents unused medications from falling into the hands of those who might abuse such, and it keeps them from being flushed into the water supply.

The box accepts solid pharmaceuticals such as pills, capsules, patches, and pet medications. The box cannot accept inhalers, syringes, or liquids. Individuals wishing to dispose of these items should speak with their doctors or pharmacists to find the safest and best ways to dispose of them.
